For more than three decades, these fields have been home to family gatherings, holiday celebrations, horseback rides, laughter echoing through the pastures, and memories that have shaped generations.

Today, we are honored to share that same place with couples beginning a legacy of their own. At The Pastures at Buttermilk Farms, every wedding is intentionally yours. BUILT ON LOVE

Some venues are designed for weddings.
This place was built for family.

In 1994, our grandfather, known lovingly by everyone as Poppy Leo, purchased this property with a dream. What began as a working horse farm quickly became something much greater.

It became the place where our family gathered.

Birthdays turned into traditions. Summer barbecues stretched long into the evening. Holidays brought generations together around one table. Children grew up running through these fields, learning the value of hard work, family, and slowing down long enough to appreciate life's simplest moments.

From 1994 through 2010, the farm thrived as a working horse farm, but its greatest purpose was always bringing people together. When our Poppy passed away in 2019, he left us something far more valuable than a beautiful property.

He left us a legacy.

A legacy of welcoming people.

Of celebrating life's milestones.

Of creating a home where everyone felt they belonged.

Today, as siblings, we're honored to continue that legacy. Opening The Pastures at Buttermilk Farms isn't simply about hosting weddings. It's about inviting other families to experience the same warmth, joy, and connection this land has given ours for so many years.

  • Your celebration can unfold throughout the property from an outdoor ceremony at The Ceremony Vista to cocktails in the Stable, followed by an elegant tented reception overlooking the pastures. With open skies, beautiful views, and the option to gather around a bonfire, every part of the day can feel connected to the land.

  • Absolutely. We love the opportunity to let each part of your celebration have its own setting. Exchange vows at The Ceremony Vista, enjoy cocktails in the Stable, and celebrate beneath an elegant tent in The Pastures.

  • We have options to help you feel confident no matter what the weather brings. Our team will work with you and your planner to create a thoughtful plan for your celebration while preserving the beauty and flow of your day.

  • Yes. A bonfire can be added to your celebration, creating a relaxed gathering place for guests to unwind, connect, and enjoy the evening beneath the stars.

  • Celebrations at The Pastures conclude by midnight, allowing your guests to enjoy a full evening of celebration while maintaining the peaceful nature of the property.

  • We welcome outside vendors, however we encourage our carefully selected group of preferred vendors who understand the property and our standards for creating an exceptional experience. Your wedding planner can help guide you through the vendor options available.

  • Yes. A professional wedding planner is required when booking The Pastures. We believe having an experienced planner allows you and your family to be fully present and enjoy your celebration while every detail is thoughtfully managed. If you need any reccomendations we are happy to help.

  • We love the idea of making your wedding more than a single day. Depending on your plans, the property can accommodate additional gatherings such as a rehearsal dinner or welcome celebration, allowing your closest people to spend more meaningful time together.

  • The Farmhouse offers five bedrooms for up to 15 guests, with intimate gathering spaces for select wedding-weekend accommodations and events. Your planner can provide details about availability and how the home can be incorporated into your celebration.

  • The Pastures is conveniently located near Oneonta and Cooperstown, with accessible hotel accommodations including Marriott and Hilton properties. Transportation options, including coach buses and shuttles, are also available through our preferred transportation partners.

  • While weddings are at the heart of what we do, The Pastures is a place for meaningful celebrations of all kinds. We welcome the opportunity to host select gatherings that align with the spirit of our family property—from welcome celebrations to milestone events and intimate family gatherings.
